Cornus florida / Flowering Dogwood

When people think of 'dogwood flowers', those of Flowering dogwood usually come to mind. Their showy, white flowers decorate the tree in late spring and make it a popular ornamental tree. But that's not all that Flowering dogwood has to offer! It has excellent form, reminiscent of a Japanese garden, with a wide crown and branches that twist upward. The flower buds are like mini sculptures and the fruit is loved by birds. Grows best in part shade with average soil, though it can tolerate full sun.
