Aloysia citrodora / Lemon verbena
Aloysia citrodora / Lemon verbena
Known for its delightful scent and flavor, Aloysia citrodora, lemon verbena, is an herbaceous shrub with long, narrow lance-shaped leaves. Its leaves release a strong lemon aroma that is used for medicinal, culinary, and aromatic purposes. Fragrant pale flowers bloom from summer to fall and this is when the lemon scent is strongest. Lemon verbena can be grown as an annual or brought indoors during the winter. It is best grown in well-drained fertile soil in an area with full sun, reaching heights up to 2-4 ft.
