Solidago canadensis / Canada Goldenrod

Canadian Goldenrod is a late summer/early autumn-blooming herbaceous perennial. Solidago canadensis prefers full sun and medium moisture, grows 4 to 5 feet tall, and feeds multitudes of beneficial insects. We’ve counted over 50 Blue-winged Wasps (a predator of the pesky Japanese Beetle pest) on ours. Canadian Goldenrod spreads by rhizome and seed and can get weedy. But hey, we like plants that like to grow. Control the spread by deadheading flowers before the seeds mature.
