Taxodium distichum / Bald cypress

The Bald Cypress has a lot of personality! These long-lived deciduous conifers have adapted to a range of site conditions from somewhat dry to standing water and are also tolerant to salt and pollutants. They are a sight to behold with trunks that flare out at the bottom and in swampy conditions they famously form root growths called 'knees' that protrude up out of the water.
